I’ve been working on my business, Parent Tech Support, for around nine months now, and for a while progress was slow but things recently started to gain momentum. The website is nearly completed, and Dennis Yu even visited to help me record some videos. It finally seemed like I was on the verge of getting clients in the next month or so.
After Dennis left, we had a week to wrap up the videos, and they were almost ready to post. To prepare for the launch, I decided to familiarize myself with Facebook’s ad center to boost my upcoming content.
But then, out of nowhere, I saw the worst message possible: “Advertising access permanently restricted.” I couldn’t believe it. Facebook claimed that my account was restricted on April 5, which didn’t make sense since I tested a few ads as recently as July. I also use my Facebook account pretty regularly and I never noticed any restrictions until now.
Naturally, I started investigating. Facebook mentioned I would have had a 30-day window to request a review before I got restricted, but I had never received any email or notification about this restriction. I scoured my email inbox and Messenger, but there was nothing. It was like the restriction appeared out of thin air.
Switching to the Facebook app on my phone, I finally found a clue: “Identity Confirmation Failure.” I had no idea what that meant, especially since I hadn’t broken any of Meta’s content rules.
Assuming this was a mistake, I went to facebook.com/business/help to contact support. But, as if it were a cruel joke, the site kept redirecting me back to my account without offering a way to actually reach support.
I wasn’t going to give up easily, though. I reached out to Facebook through every possible channel I could think of—Twitter, Instagram, even Facebook’s own page. I even sent a random email I found online. And… nothing. No response.
So, here I am, documenting the series of events for those who might be going through something similar. If you’ve faced a similar issue, know that you’re not alone, and let’s keep pushing forward to find a solution.
